چکیده

In this second part of the series, an overview of applications of polarimetric radar observations is given. This includes a summary of improvements to data quality, and interpretation of signatures and output of algorithms for observations made in warmand cold-season precipitation. Examples of operational products include hydrometeor classification, hail detection and sizing, and quantitative precipitation estimation. Signatures reviewed include those found in severe convective storms and supercells such as differential reflectivity (ZDR) columns, ZDR arcs, and tornadic debris. The melting layer bright band, snow crystal identification and growth regions, and transition of precipitation type in cold-season storms also are discussed. The emphasis is on the current state of our knowledge, as well as ongoing and future research topics that offer promising benefits to operational meteorology.

Early Online Release Transformation of the Csu-chill Radar Facility to a Dual-frequency, Dual-polarization, Doppler System 2

5 This paper describes the transformation of the CSU-CHILL National Radar Facility from 6 a single-frequency (S-band) dual-polarization Doppler weather radar system to a dual7 frequency (S and X band) dual-polarization Doppler system with coaxial beams. A brief 8 history regarding the development of dual-wavelength radars is first presented. In the past 9 dual-wavelength measurements were used ...

Principles and Applications of Dual-Polarization Weather Radar. Part I: Description of the Polarimetric Radar Variables

The United States Weather Surveillance Radar-1988 Doppler (WSR-88D) radar network has been upgraded to dual-polarization capabilities, providing operational and research meteorologists with a wealth of new information regarding the types and distributions of hydrometeors within precipitating storms, as well as a means for improved radar data quality. In addition to the conventional moments of r...

Principles and Applications of Dual - Polarization Weather Radar . Part III : Artifacts

With the new data collected with polarimetric radars comes a set of new data quality issues and artifacts. It is important for these artifacts to be recognized and understood as such, thereby allowing operational meteorologists to focus on the interpretation of the physically important observations. In this third part of the series, artifacts found in polarimetric radar data are described and e...

Abstract The main objective of recent study was comparative immunohistochemistry of Gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) of, Huso huso in two warm and cold seasons. Ten specimens were collected from sturgeon breeding centers and after anesthesia, biometric was taken on them. 0.5 centimeter samples of primary, middle and end of intestine were removed and immediately were placed in Bouin soluti...

Polarimetry for Weather Surveillance Radars

Scientific evidence accumulated over the last decade indicates that weather radar polarimetry has passed two important tests. First, as suggested by theory, polarimetric signals contain significant information about hydrometeor habits; and second, the information can be retrieved with sufficient accuracy to be useful. If it passes the cost effectiveness test, the technique should be adopted for...
